Diane, Our Dental Assistant

I've worked with Dr. Slaman for a little over 12 years now. And I'm his main assistant to assist him on all his procedures and take care of all ordering and maintaining the back office and also laboratory duties. I feel that with my experience and over the years, the knowledge that I've attained through continuing education that we contribute together with to our patients explaining to them procedures, what to expect, and helping them along as the process goes through and making sure that they're comfortable and making them feel like they're at home. So I have 29 years of experience in the dental field as the dental assistant. I've worked here for 12. And through all the years, all that experience, and knowledge between me and Dr. Slaman, we've brought back to the table for the patients to have great experiences in the chair, explaining procedures to them, helping them through the process of their appointments and what to expect. I believe that a patient who comes in, if they're fearful or apprehensive about the appointment and having someone there who can explain to them what is going to be done and is more comfortable environment for them offering them anything from pillows to blankets to headphones to listen to music while they are being worked on, that gives them that comforting feeling that they're not too far from home that comfortableness of home. I think we work well as a team, whether it be with the doctor or the front desk or the back office or the hygienist, and you have to for everything to mesh well and, I guess, flow smoothly in the day. Otherwise, it can cause chaos. I've made friends with a lot of the patients and they've felt comfortable with me and we follow through on our last conversations we left off on and it's just...it's like part of your family really. Because, I mean, you see them sometimes more than some of your family, whether cousins, aunts, uncles. You see these people three, four times a year depending on the procedures they're having done. Whether it be cleanings or crown work or implants, there are follow-up appointments for those type of appointments and you just create a rapport with the patient that they know you, you know them, and it's great.
