How Much Do Dental Crowns Cost?
The cost of a dental crown depends on a few factors, such as which restorative material you select and which tooth is treated. The cost can also depend on any preparatory procedures such as dental implant surgery or a root canal.
If you have dental insurance, your crown should be partially or fully covered unless it is an elective treatment. We also accept CareCredit® financing and offer in-office payment plans at our Albuquerque office to help offset the price of dental care. Please let us know if you have any questions, and we'll be happy to walk you through the process.

How to Care for Your Dental Crown
To ensure the longevity of your new crown, we recommend several tips:
- Avoid chewing ice and biting your nails.
- When flossing, slide the floss to the side instead of lifting it up and out.
- Practice good dental hygiene to keep your teeth, gums, and crown healthy.
- Schedule twice-yearly dental appointments.

Fill the Gap in Your Smile Implant-Supported Crowns and Dental Bridges
Losing a tooth can have an impact on your self-esteem, oral function, and oral health. Our dentist in Albuquerque, NM, can restore your bite, boost your self-confidence, and improve your oral health with a dental bridge or implant-supported crown.

Implant-Supported Crowns
When a tooth is lost, the lack of dental roots causes the bone tissue in your jaw to begin to deteriorate. This is because the roots of a tooth provide stimulation to your jawbone, keeping it healthy and strong. Without prompt treatment, jawbone atrophy can lead to shifting teeth, sunken cheeks, and additional tooth loss. Dental implants act like tooth roots and are the only treatment proven to stop jawbone atrophy. Dr. Slaman in Albuquerque can fill the gap in your smile with an implant-supported crown that acts, feels, and looks just like a natural tooth.

Dental Bridges
A traditional dental bridge uses the two teeth on either side of the gap in your smile as anchor points. These teeth are capped with dental crowns to support replacement teeth. While a traditional dental bridge does not offer the same stability or protection to your jawbone as an implant-supported restoration, it can keep your teeth from shifting and restore function. Dental bridges also provide a more affordable way to restore oral function and complete your smile.
Let's Find the Solution You Need
Crowns are a versatile treatment that can be used to meet a wide range of needs. Are you missing a single tooth and interested in replacing it with an implant-supported restoration? Is your tooth severely compromised by trauma or decay? Maybe you have a healthy tooth, but it needs a cosmetic upgrade that other treatments can't quite provide. A crown could very well be the solution you need.
During your consultation, Dr. Slaman will patiently examine your teeth and gums, listen as you explain your goals, and determine whether a crown or another one of his many dentistry services is the best way to realize the smile you want and need. Write to us or give us a call to get started:

“Excellent work.”
"Excellent work from the receptionist, to the hygienist, to the examination by the dentist. Extremely professional, courteous, and friendly." — Anthony, 5-Star Review
Crowns as a Cosmetic Treatment
Crowns are primarily known as a restorative solution, but in some cases, crowns can provide exactly the cosmetic upgrade a patient needs. For example, if you have a severely misshapen tooth, or if a veneer would not adequately hide the imperfection you want to address, a custom crown can completely cover the tooth to achieve the desired appearance. In some instances, a tooth may be severely discolored in a way that whitening cannot improve, and would be visible through a thin porcelain veneer. In these cases, Dr. Slaman may determine that a crown is the best way to make your smile more attractive and provide a boost in confidence.
Dental Crowns FAQ Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
What do dental crowns cost?
First, it's important to know that basic insurance plans contribute to at least a portion of the cost of crowns when they are used to address a medical need such as a decayed or damaged tooth. If you want a crown for purely cosmetic reasons, you can expect to pay out of pocket. The materials used to create your crown are also an important factor in the price of your crown. The best way to determine what your crown might cost is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Slaman.
How long do crowns last?
By brushing twice and flossing at least once daily, and visiting your dentist for a checkup every six months, you can expect your crown to last 10 years or longer.
Can I have an MRI done if I have a dental crown?
The crowns Dr. Slaman provides (made of gold, porcelain, e.max, or zirconia) will not interfere with an MRI. If you need an MRI and have a crown made from a metal other than gold, get in touch with us about replacing it with something that won't just look great and provide outstanding support, but also allow you to get the diagnostics you need.
“One of the best.”
